CARINGPLACE
OF THE SHOALS
Our Program at CaringPlace of the Shoals
CaringPlace of the Shoals provides a compassionate adult day program designed to support individuals living with memory loss and age-related challenges while offering meaningful respite and encouragement for caregivers. Our program creates a safe, structured environment where participants experience connection, purpose, and dignity through engaging daily activities tailored to their abilities, interests, and personal histories.
Services are provided at our welcoming center located at 216 Marengo Street, Suite I, Florence, Alabama, conveniently serving families throughout Florence and the surrounding Shoals communities. CaringPlace is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering flexible daytime support that allows caregivers to work, attend appointments, or take needed time to rest while knowing their loved one is safe and cared for.
Each day at CaringPlace follows a consistent and comforting rhythm, which is especially beneficial for individuals living with dementia. Our program incorporates Montessori-based principles, focusing on remaining abilities rather than limitations and encouraging independence, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. Activities are thoughtfully adapted to promote success, reduce frustration, and foster meaningful engagement.
Caregivers are always welcome and encouraged to join activities alongside their loved ones. We believe care is strongest when families remain connected and involved, and many caregivers find comfort in sharing moments of joy, fellowship, and community within our program.
Participants enjoy a variety of enriching daily experiences designed to support cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, including:

-
Montessori-based cognitive and memory-support activities
-
Music therapy and singing experiences
-
Pet therapy visits that encourage comfort and interaction

A highlight of each day is gathering together for meals prepared by our personal chef, who cooks home-style meals on site. Sharing nutritious food in a family-style setting encourages conversation, routine, and a strong sense of belonging.
Our trained and compassionate staff provide attentive supervision and personalized support in a warm, home-like environment where each individual is known by name and valued for who they are. While participants enjoy meaningful days filled with purpose and connection, caregivers gain trusted respite, reassurance, and peace of mind.
At CaringPlace of the Shoals, we understand that memory loss affects the entire family. Our goal is to strengthen families by providing compassionate care, meaningful engagement, and supportive community so loved ones can remain connected, valued, and engaged throughout every stage of life — ensuring the circle of care continues.
