Nicole Fults

Executive Director

Meet Nicole Fults, the heart behind CaringPlace of the Shoals. With more than 20 years of leadership experience, Nicole brings a strong background in strategic communication, volunteer management, and organizational operations. Her career includes serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama, where she led improvements that strengthened efficiency and mission delivery.

 

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Marketing and has built a career across leadership roles in marketing, sales, and management. Beyond her professional experience, her passion for elder care is deeply personal. After witnessing her own mother’s dementia journey, Nicole understands the importance of compassionate support for older adults and their families.

 

As Executive Director, Nicole leads with both expertise and heart, helping make CaringPlace of the Shoals a place of dignity, compassion, and connection.

Lindsey Crider

Director of Nursing

Born and raised in Florence, Alabama, Lindsey Crider is honored to serve her community as the Nursing Director at CaringPlace of the Shoals. A graduate of the University of North Alabama’s nursing program in 2016, she brings a strong clinical and educational background to her role, including 8 years of critical care experience and 5 years of teaching nursing at UNA.

Lindsey is passionate about caring for individuals with dignity and compassion while also supporting and encouraging the families who walk alongside them. Her heart for service and commitment to quality care help guide her work each day at CaringPlace. She and her husband, Donnie, live in Florence with their two wonderful children, Wyatt and Ellie.

Lisa Pendergrass

Activity Director

A Florence native, she brings a lifelong heart for service to her role as Activity Director at CaringPlace of the Shoals, where she helps create meaningful, engaging days for individuals living with memory loss. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science from the University of North Alabama in 1996 and has more than 15 years of management experience at Belk, where she served in leadership, employee engagement, event coordination, and HR training roles.

She has also dedicated 30 years to church music, outreach, education, and leadership—experiences that have shaped the compassion, creativity, and warmth she brings to memory care programming. At CaringPlace, she focuses on activities that encourage connection, preserve dignity, and spark moments of joy, comfort, and familiarity for participants while also supporting the families who love them.

Tanzy Martinez

LPN

Tanzy Martinez is a dedicated LPN at CaringPlace of the Shoals with 30 years of nursing experience, including 18 years in geriatric care. She brings deep compassion, steady clinical experience, and a heart for serving older adults and their families. Tanzy is married to her husband, Reuben, and together they enjoy a large blended family with 8 children and 12 grandchildren.

Alyson Holcombe
RN

Alyson Holcombe is a dedicated Registered Nurse at CaringPlace of the Shoals with 10 years of nursing experience and a strong passion for geriatric care. A graduate of the University of North Alabama, she has spent the past 10 years serving as a clinical RN and has also taught nursing at UNA for 5 years. Alyson is a longtime Florence resident who is deeply committed to caring for older adults with compassion and excellence. She is married to her husband, Drew, and together they have three children—Walker, Noah, and Eva.

Leigh Moody
RN

Leigh Moody is a registered nurse and 2002 graduate of Northwest Shoals Community College with more than 20 years of experience in pulmonary care, hospice, and nursing leadership. Throughout her career, she has served in roles including case manager, clinical manager, director of nursing, and hospice triage nurse supporting care centers across Alabama. Leigh brings extensive clinical knowledge and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to supporting individuals and families. She has been married to her husband, Les, since 1996 and is the proud mother of one son, Tyler.

Jennifer Lewis
Chef

Jennifer Lewis, originally from Huntsville, Alabama, studied culinary arts at the University of North Alabama and has over 27 years of catering experience as the owner of Simply Southern Catering. As CaringPlace’s chef, she prepares comforting, home-style meals that nourish both body and spirit, creating familiar flavors that bring joy and connection to those we serve. Jennifer is a proud mother of two and has a true passion for Southern hospitality.
